How to bet on football in Kenya

New to betting? This beginner's guide explains odds, markets and bet types in plain language, and shows you how to place your first bet on DBBet with M-Pesa.

Step 1: Create an account

Step 2: Deposit with M-Pesa

Add funds from as little as KES 30 using M-Pesa — pay with M-Pesa Fast for an extra 30% on your deposit, once a day. See the deposit guide for the exact steps. Only deposit what you can comfortably afford.

Step 3: Understand the odds

Odds tell you two things: how much you can win, and roughly how likely an outcome is. DBBet uses decimal odds, which are easy to read:

  • Odds 2.00 — a KES 100 bet returns KES 200 (KES 100 profit).
  • Odds 1.50 — a KES 100 bet returns KES 150 (KES 50 profit). More likely to win, smaller reward.
  • Odds 4.00 — a KES 100 bet returns KES 400 (KES 300 profit). Less likely, bigger reward.

Simple formula: potential return = stake × odds.

Step 4: Pick a market

A "market" is what you're betting on. The most common football markets are:

  • 1X2 (match result) — home win (1), draw (X) or away win (2).
  • Over/Under goals — will the total goals be over or under a number (e.g. Over 2.5).
  • Both teams to score (GG/NG) — will both teams score, yes or no.
  • Double chance — cover two of the three results for a safer, lower-odds bet.
  • Correct score — predict the exact final score (harder, higher odds).
  • Handicaps — give one team a virtual head-start or deficit.

Step 5: Single bet or multibet?

  • Single bet — one selection. It wins or loses on its own. Lower risk.
  • Multibet (accumulator) — several selections in one bet. The odds multiply for a bigger payout, but every selection must win. Higher risk, higher reward.

Step 6: Place the bet

  1. Choose a sport, match and market, then tap the odds to add the selection to your betslip.
  2. Enter your stake — the betslip shows your potential return automatically.
  3. Tap Place bet. Your bet appears in your bet history.

Step 7: Live betting & cash out

Live (in-play) betting lets you bet while a match is happening, with odds that change in real time. Cash out, where available, lets you settle a bet early — locking in a profit or cutting a loss before the match ends.

Smart betting tips

  • Set a budget and stick to it. Betting is entertainment, not income.
  • Start with markets you understand, like 1X2 or Over/Under.
  • Don't chase losses — take a break instead.
  • Compare odds and look for value, not just favourites.
  • Read the responsible gaming guide and use deposit limits.

Frequently asked questions

How do odds work in betting?
Odds show your potential return. At odds of 2.00, a KES 100 bet returns KES 200 — your KES 100 stake plus KES 100 profit. Higher odds mean a bigger potential win but a lower chance of winning.
What is a multibet?
A multibet (accumulator) combines several selections into one bet. The odds multiply for a bigger payout, but every selection must win for it to pay out.
What is the minimum bet in Kenya?
On DBBet you can deposit from KES 30 with M-Pesa and place small stakes. Always bet only what you can afford to lose.
